Notice on the Switching of Communication Services of Inmarsat Asia-Pacific Satellite Service

Dear Inmarsat Users.

On April 17, 2023, I4F1 of Inmarsat Asia-Pacific had a partial power failure, resulting in the degradation of communication services for some of the satellite’s services.

After coordination between our company and NAVISAT, some of the affected services were temporarily adjusted to Middle East Satellite I4F2, and a brand new satellite I6F1 was launched urgently to ensure the continuity and stability of the service.

In order to completely solve the problem of degradation of some services of APSTAR I4F1, Inmarsat has switched the communication services of Middle East Satellite I4F2 to I6F1, and recently drifted Middle East Satellite I4F2 to the orbital position of APSTAR I4F1, which is at 143.5°East longitude. All communication service switching has now been completed, and we continue to provide users with high-quality and stable services, the details of which have been changed as follows.

(i) Maritime satellite communication services in China will be migrated from satellite I6F1 (satellite orbital position 83.5°E) to I4F2 (satellite orbital position 143.5°E), and I4F2 will replace the communication services of satellite I4F1 to provide all communication services in China.

(ii) When customers use I4F2 services within China, they need to point the satellite antenna in the southeast direction (satellite orbital position 143.5°E) to align with the satellite, which was previously adopted by the The previously adopted way of aligning the satellite in the southwest direction will no longer be applicable.
